In Greek mythology, a nymph She is a minor female deity typically associated with a specific natural location, such as a spring, a stream, a hill, the sea or a grove. They were referred to as ‘Olympian’, and it was said that they were summoned to the gatherings of the gods on Mount Olympus and that they were daughters of Zeus. Unlike the gods, nymphs are generally regarded as divine spirits who animate nature; they are depicted in works of art as beautiful naked or semi-naked maidens who love, sing and dance. Poets sometimes describe them as having hair the colour of the sea. It was believed that they lived in trees, on mountain tops, in rivers, streams, ravines and caves.
