Ex Libris Globe

Ex Libris Globe stamp.

A hot-air balloon is an unpowered aerostatic aircraft that utilises Archimedes« principle of fluids to fly, treating air as a fluid. They always consist of a bag open at the bottom, containing a mass of hot air (lifting gas), controlled by a device called a burner, situated at the top of the basket or harness and normally fuelled by propane gas. At the bottom of this envelope there may be a solid structure known as a basket; in smaller balloons, this may be replaced by a specialised harness. As they have no form of propulsion, hot-air balloons are »carried along’ by air currents. The altitude of the balloons can be controlled using the burner to ascend and a valve at the top, known as a ‘parachute’, which cools the air inside on demand to descend.

Ex libris It is a Latin phrase which literally means ‘from the books of’, that is, a book taken from the collection of a public or private library. The ‘Ex Libris globo’ is a mark of ownership that is usually placed on the inside front cover of a book. It bears the name of the owner of the volume or the library to which it belongs.

The design is laser-engraved onto high-quality rubber, which ensures high-definition detail on our stamp. The relief of approximately 1 mm guarantees clean and clear impressions. We do not use the transparent polymer resins commonly employed by other manufacturers for this purpose.
