Hippopotamus Ex Libris Stamp.

El common hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) is a large, mainly herbivorous, artiodactyl mammal that inhabits sub-Saharan Africa. It is, together with the pygmy hippopotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis), one of only two extant members of the family Hippopotamidae. It is a semi-aquatic animal that lives in rivers and lakes, and where territorial adult males with groups of five to thirty females and youngsters control an area of the river. During the day they rest in the water or in the mud, and both the copulation and the birth of this animal take place in the water. At dusk they become more active and come out to eat terrestrial herbs. Although hippos rest together in the water, grazing is a solitary activity, and they are not territorial on land.

Bookplate is a Latin phrase that literally means, from among the books of, that is, a book from among the books of a public or private library. The hippopotamus bookplate is a property mark that is usually placed on the back of the cover or cover of a book. Contains the name of the owner of the item or of the owning library.

The design is laser engraved on a high quality rubber that offers us a high definition in the details of our stamp. The approx. 1mm embossing ensures clean and clear prints. We do not use for these cases the use of transparent polymer resins widely used by other manufacturers.
